INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — Bronze sculptures of a life-sized mule deer and stellar jay perched on a three-foot pine tree and a Public Art Recognition Plaque were installed at Incline Gateway on Friday, June 13.

Artist June Towill Brown was joined by Don Kanare and Jim Nowlin of the Incline Gateway Committee and members of the Incline Rotary’s morning and afternoon organizations.

Representatives from Adonis Bronze and F.W. Carson helped install the public art at the traffic roundabout at the intersection of state highways 431 and 28.

Several Incline residents donated funds needed for the public art project to cover the supplies and bronze casting for the new art work, and Brown donated her artistry.

“We are delighted to see this beautiful entrance to our community receive such great support from the local residents,” said Kanare, who was the initial inspiration behind the roundabout. “There is still plenty of room on the roundabout for additional animal sculptures.”

Brown has already created a one-third size model of a life-size bronze golden eagle that will have a wing span of 5 feet landing on large bronze branches that would be attached to a boulder; the full span of a golden eagle in flight is seven feet, Kanare said.

“June’s rendition would be a show stopper and would certainly add a large and much needed presence to the roundabout,” he said, adding that the eagle also is up for adoption.

For information on how to fund sculptures and make a tax-deductible donation to the project, contact Kanare at 775-828-3380.
