~ Recording Star Mike Love Joins Brown at Official Dedication~

(INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev.), October 26, 2012 — On a classically beautiful fall day overlooking Lake Tahoe, bronze artist June Towill Brown unveiled her artwork of six life-sized bronze animals during a formal dedication ceremony for the new International Gateway to Lake Tahoe. Brown was joined by local Incline Village resident and recording rock star Mike Love (of the Beach Boys) in a ceremony that highlighted the Gateway’s key safety, environmental and artistic benefits to this North Lake Tahoe community’s new traffic roundabout and included audio played Love’s famous “I Get Around” music.

I was certainly honored to have been selected for our community’s first public art project yet never expected a rock-star by my side to dedicate the hours of work that it involved in a project with such important significance,” said Brown. “The entire experience reinforced how important it is for artists to contribute to their communities.”

Brown donated all of her time and creativity that has been estimated at a cost of $250,000 which she gifted to her home town. When the ceremony was over, Love personally commissioned Brown to create a Golden Eagle on his family’s behalf which will be a new addition to this prestigious project. “I never thought a Golden Eagle would be the ‘swan song’ of my career yet my gut tells me, this is actually just a beginning of my involvement with momentous public art projects,” said Brown.

Brown and Love joined other notables to commemorate this $2.4 million private/public partnership designed to protect Lake Tahoe’s famed water clarity and air quality and to celebrate the importance of public art. This entrance to Lake Tahoe will welcome millions of visitors from all over the world for generations to come.
